About this Talk
As clinicians, coaches, and instructors in health and wellness spaces, the goal is to improve client wellness. Addressing body image and promoting body positivity is a critical component of holistic health that is often overlooked, and it can be difficult to know how to provide care that is truly body-inclusive.
Dr. Kaylee Misener’s talk provides essential knowledge to help professionals deliver services in a way that is body-sensitive and appropriate. Your Speaker
PhD, Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Kaylee Misener is a Licensed Psychologist, researcher, and speaker with more than a decade of experience presenting on body image, eating disorders, stress, and wellness. She combines clinical expertise, research excellence, and a warm, engaging style to help audiences build healthier relationships with themselves and their well-being.
Dr. Misener completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of British Columbia Okanagan and her residency with Vancouver Coastal Health. In addition to her clinical and speaking work, she is also a certified yoga instructor, which further informs her holistic and accessible approach to well-being. She has delivered talks for local body image organizations, universities, Fraser Health, and Interior Health, as well as more specialized presentations exploring how social, political, and diversity-related factors shape body image and eating disorders. She also speaks to parents, professionals, and community audiences about body image concerns in youth and how to foster more protective, supportive environments. Beyond the stage, Dr. Misener developed and taught an original undergraduate psychology course on body image at UBC Okanagan and has contributed to public advocacy through panel appearances, podcast interviews, and writing on women’s health. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the leading journal Body Image, and she has received numerous awards for both research and advocacy. She also leads yoga and meditation practices and can be found on the Insight Timer app, where several of her mindfulness and body image-focused meditations are available.
